It is open, though only because he knew Abel was coming. Cain doesn't leave the door unlocked as a general rule because he doesn't want people just walking in any time they want.
When Abel walks in he'll find Cain lying the wrong way around on his bed with his heels propped against the wall and a book in his hands. He sets it down and rolls onto his side when he hears the other man's voice.
"Yeah. Got you some tea." Cain makes a small gesture to the still-steaming cup and puts his feet on the floor. "Busy day?"
